THEMES
The research for these image presentations focused on activity planning
for the aged care industry, however the final productions are generic in format.
The themes and productions are designed with attention to the everyday,
the familiar, the pleasant and memorable.
The use of themes, particularly for people with dementia, may
assist the opportunity for association and reminiscence. Additionally,
a theme facilitates the flow and continuity of the presentation.
Some productions for Share-Time Pictures are specifically designed for
people with Alzheimer's disease and are based on accessing Implicit or
Procedural Memory. Therefore images portraying everyday procedures
are used to facilitate reminiscence. It is hoped that by the
repetition of themed images and accessing Procedural Memory,
as an alternative to focusing on Autobiographical Memory,
additional opportunities for reminiscence may occur.
