I have over ten years experience working in a one-on-one capacity in the aged care industry. While working in nursing and diversional therapy roles I felt there was a need for more appropriate videos and books for care-recipients. There were few television programs suitable, whether through content or the interruption of loud advertisements. I also felt there was a need for a type of non-verbal communication tool that care-recipients could share with their relatives, friends and care-givers. 'Feel Good' images connected by a familiar theme that require no comments, just spontaneous enjoyment or engagement.
The focus of my Master of Arts with Honours in Visual Art (Digital Media & Dissertation) from the Queensland College of Art Griffith University (2007) research was to provide non-verbal imagery through generic audiovisuals, activities and books for engagement and relaxation for care-recipients and care-givers to quietly share together.
I am very grateful to the post-graduate lecturers & supervisors, consultants, community & residential facilities and care-workers, senior citizens organisations, businesses, and family & friends who have supported this project.
Thank you for visiting Share-Time Pictures.
